No one wants their healing crystals to come from places that hurt the planet and its creatures. But unfortunately these are major issues in the industry. At Over the Moon Magic, we want to provide you with crystals that you can feel good about. So we're very careful about where and how we source them. We work with small, family-owned operations to ensure our crystals are as ethical as possible. This is also how we keep our prices affordable, as it's cheaper to get them straight from the source.
What we do:

About our suppliers
India
One of our main suppliers is a family-owned business based in the Rajasthan region of India. This area is a source of many popular crystals like quartz, amethyst, citrine, agate, and rose quartz. After moving to the US, the owners opened a wholesale warehouse in Massachusets to help create jobs for their community back home. Workers are paid a fair wage and the mines follow many American labor practices like paid lunch breaks, holiday pay, and overtime. They are also provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent injury and sickness from working in the mines. This is where we source the majority of our tumbled crystals and spheres.
China
Our other main supplier is based in Donghai, the crystal capital of China. Many families in this area have been involved in the crystal business for generations. They work with local mines to purchase large pieces of raw crystals, and then cut and polish them in their own small factories. Everyone who works at the factory is a member of the family, so they all have equal ownership of the business and make sure everyone is safe. This is where we source most of our crystal carvings, towers, and jewelry.
USA & Canada
Crystals grow naturally in almost every state in the US. As someone who loves to travel, I often visit areas to mine for crystals myself. Like the selenite mountains in Utah and Amethyst in Thunder Bay. We also have a supplier based in Arizona that owns a few mines across the country. Crystal mining in the US is regulated very strictly. So we can be sure that the workers are treated fairly, given proper safety precausions, and cause minimal damage to the environment. This is how we source most of our raw stones and some tumbles.
Our "Do Not Buy" List
We currently do not purchase crystals from Congo, Myanmar, Madagascar, or Afghanistan. Any crystals on our website from these locations (such as Carribean Calcite and Sea Jasper) are old stock purchased before 2021. Once they are sold out we will not be restocking them.
